This week, beginning the 28th February 2022, we will be participating in World Book Week. World Book Week is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. We have a range of activities planned throughout the week to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading at school, as well as at home.
Monday 28th February
• Children in Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and 4B will attend a story telling session with Phil McDermot.
• 4C & 5G: Teddy Bears Picnic. Guess which book character went for a picnic.
• Year 6: Name the book. Prizes to be won!
Tuesday 1st March
• Children in 4C, Year 5, and Year 6 will attend a story telling session with Phil McDermot.
• Year 3, Butterfly Class & Year 1: Teddy Bears Picnic. Guess which book character went for a picnic.
• EYFS & Year 2: Name the book. Prizes to be won!
Wednesday 2nd March
• Nursery, Year 2 & 4B: Teddy Bears Picnic. Guess which book character went for a picnic.
• EYFS & Year 2: Name the book. Prizes to be won!
• Nursery – Year 2: Teddy Bear Sleepover
Thursday 3rd March
• Year 4: Meet the author, Rashmi Sirdeshpande at Genesis Cinema.
• Year 3 & Year 5: Name the book. Prizes to be won!
• 5W, 3A & Ladybird Class: Teddy Bears Picnic. Guess which book character went for a picnic.
• Nursery – Year 6: Book in a Box exhibition in Parish Hall at 3pm for parents.
Friday 4th March
• Nursery – Year 6: Character dress up day.
• Year 6: Teddy Bears Picnic. Guess which book character went for a picnic.
• Whole school: Big fat quiz of the year.
Please feel free to allow your child to bring their favourite book/s into school with them throughout the week, as there will be many opportuinites for them to read and share them with their peers.
