Christmas Carol Singing December 2022

Our Year 6 choir have been spreading Christmas cheer and raising money for The London Air Ambulance Service and Providence Row by singing carols at The Royal London Hospital and Spitalfields Market. By supporting Providence Row and Poplar Food Bank we continue to carry on the work and mission of the Sisters of Mercy and fulfil the charism of our school.

Year 5 also visited Lady Mico’s Almshouses to sing carols as part of our intergenerational ‘Incommon‘ visits.  Due to the snowy weather, the residents enjoyed listening to the children’s from their balconies and windows and we received a message of thanks from Lady Mico’s  for the children’s enthusiastic singing.

Collection for Providence Row and Poplar Food Bank 0ctober 2022

Many thanks for all your generous donations. Harvest time gives us an opportunity to remember those in need. The food donations will be shared between our local homeless charity, Providence Row and a nearby food bank, Neighbours in Poplar. On a recent visit to school, Sister Elizabeth from the Sisters of Mercy and former headteacher of St Mary and Michael, was asked by Year 6. How can we carry on the work of the Sisters of Mercy in our school and daily lives? Sister Elizabeth said, “To go out and carry out the works of Jesus and help people in the community.”

By supporting Providence Row and Poplar Food Bank we continue to carry on the work and mission of the Sisters of Mercy and fulfil the charism of our school.

CAFOD – Non uniform Day October 2022

Thank you to our Faith Friends, who organised a non-uniform day on Friday 14th October 2022 to raise money for CAFOD; the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, a charity working with communities around the world. Many thanks to everyone who donated to support our global family. We raised £307.62. There is enough food in the world for everyone, yet 1 in 3 people have gone hungry in the last year. Supporting CAFOD is a way for us to put our faith into action. By raising money for Brighten Up, we are supporting our brothers and sisters around the world, inspiring each other to become active global citizens and living out our school mission.
